IADS SCHOLARS SELECTED FOR AFRETEC DOCTORAL ACADEMY 2.0

The Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS), University of Lagos, is thrilled to announce that Ms. Ibukunoluwa Akinola and Mrs. Abiola Olawale, doctoral students at IADS, have been selected to participate in the AFRETEC UNILAG Doctoral Academy 2.0, organised by the African Engineering and Technology (AFRETEC) Network, a Carnegie Mellon–Africa initiative, hosted at the University of Lagos.

The programme, themed “Doctoral Research as a Catalyst for Community Impact,” is a five-day intensive, fully funded capacity-building academy scheduled to hold from Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 3, 2026, at the UNILAG-RICE 360 Design Studio, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lagos. It brings together doctoral scholars and their supervisors for keynote sessions, workshops and participant presentations aimed at promoting research excellence, innovation and collaboration across Africa. Both students will receive full support covering accommodation, meals, and transport throughout the programme.

Selection into the Doctoral Academy 2.0 is competitive and recognises scholars whose research demonstrates strong potential for community impact across the African continent.
