IADS OPEN DAY- APRIL 2025

The Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS) held her maiden Open Day on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, showcasing the groundbreaking work of the Institute over a period of 7 years and 8 months.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, described IADS as a “model of what research should be in the university,” commending IADS pioneering work in African narratives, grants, and mentorship.
The Director of the Institute, Prof. Muyiwa Falaiye, shared IADS’ remarkable journey, including collaborations with top institutions like Makerere University and University of Sussex, and the impact of the scholars at the Institute of African and Diaspora Studies.
Guests enjoyed a guided tour to the herbal medicine exhibition, vibrant Afrocentric performances, and engaging discussions with doctoral students and stakeholders.
At IADS, we are committed to drive research by Africans, for Africa, fostering global intellectual exchange and preserving African heritage.
