The transnational Lab, based within AHUWA at the School of Architecture, University of Liverpool, involves international research activities including the establishment of a Masters Programme in Global Urbanism and Heritage, in collaboration with the Institute of African and Diaspora Studies, University of Lagos (IADS). The 2-day curriculum building workshop, held on 3rd and 4th of February, 2025, at the Institute of African and Diaspora Studies, was a conversation with industry partners and scholars in the area of architecture and planning, cultural heritage, curriculum experts, social sciences, heritage and sustainability, tourism, research and fieldwork and practical skills.
The collaborative multidisciplinary Masters programme is one of the projected outputs of the Leverhulme Global Professorship. It seeks to explore fundamentals of global urbanisation and heritage, as well as the patterns of heritage development, conservation, policy and practice.
It also seeks to explore impacts of globalisation, climate crises and rapid urbanisation as well as comparative analyses of housing, urban development patterns, as well as built and cultural heritage pathways across cities of the Global South, starting from West Africa.
