Workshop by Bayreuth fellows at IADS BOARD ROOM

Workshop entitled “Ancestral Time” at the Institute of African and Diaspora Studies, University of Lagos on the 21st July, 2022 by two scholars from the University of Bayreuth, Germany on mobility programme. It was an interesting interactive session at the IADS Board room today, as Prof. Dr. Viviane de Freitas and Prof. Dr. Henriette Gunkel presented their papers. All present both physical and virtual contributed to this engaging and captivating topic.

2022 VAD CONFERENCE

  The Association for African Studies in Germany e.V. (VAD) organises an international and interdisciplinary conference every two years. This year’s VAD conference entitled “Africa-Europe: Reciprocal Perspectives” will take place from 7th to 10th June, 2022 in Freiburg im Breisgau. The host of the VAD conference this year is the newly founded Africa Centre for Transregional Research (ACT) of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg.

LAGOS ACC DELEGATES IN BAYREUTH, GERMANY

On Sunday, May 8, 2022, six delegates from the Unilag African Cluster Centre (LACC) arrived in Bayreuth to discuss the future and cooperation among the African Clusters Centres. The LACC was represented by (L-R) Dr. ‘Kayode Eesuola, Mrs. Ndidi Zedomi, Prof. Muyiwa Falaiye, Mrs. Bilqis Alayaki, Prof. Ayo Yusuff and Dr. Feyi Ademola-Adeoye. The programme had delegates from the three other African Cluster Centres: Rhodes University, Moi University and Universite Joseph Ki – Zerbo. The Cluster of Excellence, University of Bayreuth was also well represented by the cluster management and their team. The programme commenced on Monday, May 9, 2022. We wish them a fruitful deliberation.

IADS RECEIVES THE CONSUL GENERAL OF THE GERMAN CONSULATE, LAGOS

Dr. Bernd von Munchow-Pohl, the Consul General of the German Consulate in Lagos in company of Dr. Gerald Heusing of the department of European Languages and Integration Studies, University of Lagos paid a visit to the Lagos African Cluster Center (Lagos ACC), Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS) on April 25, 2022. The management and staff of the Institute were delighted to receive him.
