LAGOS ACC HOSTS MANAGEMENT TEAM FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF BAYREUTH AND THE DIRECTORS OF OTHER ACCs

The Advisory board and the University of Bayreuth Cluster delegates visited the Institute of African and Diaspora Studies, University of Lagos between August 22 and August 28, 2022. It was a productive week for the members of African Cluster Centres and the Cluster of Excellence, University of Bayreuth, Germany. The signing of the renewal of project agreement was also achieved on August 23, 2022.

DR. ABISOYE ELESHIN DELIVERED A LECTURE AS A VISITING RESEARCH FELLOW IN KENYA

Dr. Eleshin delivered a lecture entitled “Linguistic Pluralism and Indigenous Knowledge Production: A Preliminary Study of Eldoret, Kenya” on August 4, 2022 at the Moi University, Eldoret. This study interrogates African indigenous language and knowledge production situation among the Kalenjin group in Eldoret, Kenya. The outcome of this study is geared towards examining how the neglect of Kalenji speech codes could affect the production and sustenance of indigenous knowledge in the identified linguistic enclave.

Workshop by Bayreuth fellows at IADS BOARD ROOM

Workshop entitled “Ancestral Time” at the Institute of African and Diaspora Studies, University of Lagos on the 21st July, 2022 by two scholars from the University of Bayreuth, Germany on mobility programme. It was an interesting interactive session at the IADS Board room today, as Prof. Dr. Viviane de Freitas and Prof. Dr. Henriette Gunkel presented their papers. All present both physical and virtual contributed to this engaging and captivating topic.

2022 VAD CONFERENCE

  The Association for African Studies in Germany e.V. (VAD) organises an international and interdisciplinary conference every two years. This year’s VAD conference entitled “Africa-Europe: Reciprocal Perspectives” will take place from 7th to 10th June, 2022 in Freiburg im Breisgau. The host of the VAD conference this year is the newly founded Africa Centre for Transregional Research (ACT) of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg.
