The Lagos African Cluster Centre calls for applications for a short Visiting Fellowship of between one and three months, which is to run from January to December, 2022. We especially welcome scholars who are interested in the major theme of RECONFIGURING African Studies through multidisciplinary engagements.

The aim of the Fellowship is to expose scholars to a process of reconfiguring African Studies within the African context and reality. The scholarship winner will be addressed as a Fellow of the Lagos—African Cluster Centre (ACC). The Fellow will be expected to engage in re-examining basic assumptions and query them from multidisciplinary approaches to enhance, uphold and dismiss present knowledge about Africans, in addition to highlighting the multiplicity of discourses about Africa.

Eligibility:

The successful applicant is expected to meet the following criteria:

1. hold a PhD degree as at the time of application;
2. have conducted research, as part of the PhD and/or in later projects, with a focus on Africa;

• be actively pursuing an academic/research career;

1. have published in the chosen area of specialty;
2. in accordance with visa regulations, be ready to return to the country of which

applicant is a citizen and/or a current resident upon completion of the fellowship;

1. the applicant must be based in an African Academic Institution, preferably in any of the ACCs or the University of Bayreuth.

Expected results:

Accepted applicant will be expected to share the output of collaboration in one of the Lagos-ACC’s PI Lecture series; be willing to participate in a joint research grant proposal, and publish/collaborate with one Lagos-ACC researcher in publishing in a peer-reviewed journal, as a contribution to the Knowledge Lab.

Fellowship shall include:

1. a return ticket (economy class)
2. a monthly stipend to cover living expenses in Lagos

• travel insurance in Nigeria

1. accommodation in the University of Lagos: single room with shared facilities
2. the use of (shared) office facilities and of library facilities.
