UNILAG AFRICAN CLUSTER CENTRE DOCTORAL SCHOLARSHIPS 2022
Sponsored by the German Research Foundation, and through its collaboration with the University of Bayreuth and three other African partners in the African Multiple Cluster system, the University of Lagos African Cluster Centre is pleased to announce the opening of applications for two doctoral grants worth one million naira each (#1,000,000.00) for candidates who are already working closely with their supervisors on relevant studies that will bring new insights to the following interdisciplinary themes as addressed by the Cluster: (1) Moralities (2) Knowledges (3) Arts and Aesthetics (4) Mobilities (5) Affiliations (6) Learning. We are particularly interested in candidates who are working within the following areas: African history and African politics; African Traditional Religion; and Herbal Medicine; African Philosophy; African Languages and literature, including English and Francophone Literature (with special reference to multilingualism, African and African diaspora literature, translation and early African literary works); African Culture and Gender Studies; African Musicology; Arts and Aesthetics; as well as Water, environment and climatic change in Africa.
Current doctoral candidates with research projects that explore related themes, and particularly those whose supervisors are in the Cluster System are invited to apply for the scholarship. The selected candidates will be expected to assist their supervisor with some of their research work and undertake some limited teaching- related duties where necessary.
Requirements:
Applicants must be registered for a Ph.D. at the University of Lagos. For the 2022 intake, preference will be given to those candidates whose Ph.D. research proposals have passed through the pre-APC process and are already doing their fieldwork, or are about to write up their thesis.

Closing Date for Applications is 30 November, 2021. Where necessary, candidates may be shortlisted for a brief interview. The scholarship covers the academic period from January to December, 2022.
